Education
In 1988 he graduated from the 2nd Moscow order of Lenin State medical Institute after N. Pirogov (now Russian State medical University) on the specialty – General Medicine.
He defended his master’s thesis in 1995, doctor’s thesis in 2004.
His master’s and doctoral theses were devoted to the solution of problems with corneal surgery (corneal transplantation). The title of Professor was received in 2007.
Over 15 years has been combining medical and scientific work with teaching at the Department of ophthalmology of the Doctors Improvement Faculty at RGMU.
Repeatedly has passed specialization in various aspects of ophthalmology in leading Russian and international ophthalmology clinics. In 2012 has mastered the modern method of selective (endothelial and other kinds) keratoplasty in France.
Practice
Priority surgical and research activities – matters of cornea transplantation, the treatment of severe pathology of the cornea and anterior segment of an eye, refractive surgery and glaucoma treatment.
A. Y. Slonimsky is the author of 7 patents, he has published more than 130 scientific papers. The latest patent he has granted in 2012 on biodegradable drainage "Glowtex", which is now successfully used in many ophthalmology clinics in the surgical treatment of glaucoma.
Professor A. Y. Slonimsky is a member of the Russian Society of Ophthalmologists, the Russian Society of Cataract and Refractive surgeons, Advisory Council on inflammatory eye diseases.
Professor A. Y. Slonimsky is a regular speaker at the international and Russian conferences, congresses and maintains the scientific contacts with leading experts in the field of transplantation of the cornea in Russia and abroad.
